Rage will be of similar size they say, 2-3 DVDs, because of mega-textures. It will have no mod or dedicated server support. This is why i will only download it cracked when it's released, i will never support games with no dedicated server support. For Duke Nukem Forever we will see, if they support real dedicated servers (not rented shit) then maybe i will order it, but i will first download it cracked as well to see if it's worth buying.

It's even more than 10 years, DNF is in development since 1997, almost 14 years now. :-D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_Forever

Also release is postponed to Jun 2011.
It was originally confirmed to be released on May 3, 2011 in North America, with a worldwide release following on May 6, 2011. This has however been delayed by a month to June 10 internationally with a North American release on June 14.

he is doing better now. was scary for a few weeks. first his appendix burst. then they discovered he had anuryusim (dont know if i spelled that right) on his aorta that was about to burst. Because of the infection from his appendix we had to wait almost 3 weeks before they could take care of his aorta. they were keeping his BP at like 100/60 to make sure it didnt burst. but they put the stents in and he shoud make a full recovery within 6 months.

stinky reviews. was telling a friend of mine -- they should have never released it and left the weird mythology to enjoy.

Fuck reviews, they have no clue. I never check reviews, because most of the time they only criticize or complain about something. If you want to form your own opinion, check videos instead. Also, keep in mind most reviews are based on Xbox 360 version, not PC one.

Game is fun as hell, it has original Duke Nukem atmosphere. Graphics is very good, and monologues even better! :-D

Edit: check this video about DNF reviews and ratings. Mainstream review sites are stupid.

I was really surprised by it, i didn't check any boring review, i never do, but when game is postponed so many times, chances are a lot of old maps and material they had to destroy or port to the new engine, update all the graphics etc. As i said before, game is really fun to play and it has original Duke Nukem feel, which is the most important thing. Even with older engine it would still rock!

There may be some issues, depends on system config, check this if you plan to install it again:
proper release: http://is.gd/yHu4UZ

If you are getting 0xc0150002/dll errors then you need to install VC++ 2008 and 2010 Redistributable Packages for x86, even if you have x64 system!
VC2008 x86: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=29
VC2010 x86: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5555
-- VC2005 you most probably don't need, unless you are on XP SP2 or older --
VC2005 x86: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3387

Next problem some experience is crash report at start, because of steam_api.dll, you can get different version here:
http://cs.rin.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=11503 (unpack to {Duke Nukem Forever}\System\ dir, overwrite)
( this version may not support save games and other settings )
thread: http://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=59580&start=105

Optional, update DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)

Not all reviews are bad, check DNF PC review: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/10/duke-nukem-forever-review/3/
"Don't expect a miracle. Duke is still the hero we love, but struggles to keep up with modern times. Crude humor and classic weaponry keep him in the game."

Exactly, some elements may be a bit outdated, but this is really not that important. Even more, i would like to see those old alpha versions released, based on old engines.
Like this, from 1999, Unreal engine:

Or even older, based on Quake engine:

Many people think Duke is offensive, good. It's always fun to see politically correct people offended. Kinda reminds me of Postal 2 [ wiki ]. :)

This post is cool, from http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=125452
if anything i'd say the Duke is more relevant today than he ever was. in our world of political correctness gone mad, where all kinds of ideas from some loud-mouthed minority demand that we don't do or say this or that so as not to offend anyone, the Duke comes down like a ton of bricks.

for me, DNF is like a playable 1980s Schwarzenegger movie. that's what i wanted from this game, and that's what i got. it's about a badass hero who doesn't give a crap whom he might offend, who does what it takes to get the job done, and who doesn't apologize for killing. "If I promised to kill you last, I lied."

a lot of younger gamers/reviewers seem incapable of dealing with this as they have grown up in an environment of utter political correctness, where plastic forks in school lunch rooms can get you arrested for possession of a deadly weapon and telling a cute co-worker how nice she looks this morning gets you convicted of sexual harassment.

As the Duke says, if you don't like that, eat **** and die.

I couldn't agree more. :-D

They say in the .nfo to do this for savegames:
Code: Select all
If you want to continue your current savegame, copy the following files
from your Duke Nukem Forever\System folder to the folder in the buttom.

last.dcp
last.sav
meta.dnp
progress.ini
system.ini
user.ini

Move/Copy the files in Appdata\Local\SKIDROW\57900\Storage folder

Use the Launcher.exe to change languages!

That would be...
%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\SKIDROW\57900\Storage (Vista/w7)
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\SKIDROW\57900\Storage (XP)

...But only if you want to import savegames. It should already save them under SKIDROW\57900\Storage by default. Maybe it must be run as Administrator under W7.

It's normal DX from JUN 2010, nothing game-specific, same thing you can download from Microsoft directly, in one file: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8109

Also VC++ runtime files can be downloaded from Microsoft, as described in my post above.
