Play Station 2 Emulator?

Postby DEAN SINSTROM » Thu Oct 27, 2011 22:06 UTC

I've downloaded and installed a PS2 emulator, with the intent of playing GT4. I downloaded "pcsx2", and have got it so that it runs the game. The only problem is once I actually get a car on the track, the FPS gets bogged right down to 10 or 15 FPS. Surely my system can run this game? (2.5ghz, 4gb of ram, 512mb video...)
Should I try a different emulator, or maybe try tinkering with the settings? Does any one here have any experience running GT4 on an emulator?

"pcsx2" is a emu for pc to run somewhat full and compatible...since the emu is still under test release and svn's it will make any system like crap cause its trying to emulate a game that was never meant for pc. just console

ive been on emu's since nes and up even a sega saturn emu was slow when i 1st tried it on my 1.6ghz system and got 8 frames per sec and u know that the actuall system only ran off of what? 30mhz? 40mhz? yet we have more than what we need to run 100x more power and still gives us errors. PCSX2 is still a beta. always has been
dont let it make u think your system is slow. u have enough power to push farcry2 and others. u can still however tweak it a bit here and their. i like the n64 and the Gcube emu. but for best performance u would have to have a quad core system and good latest Vcard just to emulate 1 game.. at its fullest not to mention with glitches.. :)

emu's = problems and slowdowns

Cool, Yeah I have pretty much all the emu's, even got PS1 Gran Turismo 2 to run at 50 or 60 FPS on my netbook. (I had to decrease the graphics quality a bit, but it runs awesome)
I find there's not as many video options to change settings in pcx2 as there is in ePSXe. I'll take another crack at it sometime over the weekend.
Thanks for the links, guys. :)

For PS 1 games try to find a copy of BLEEM it was an emulator sold legally for PS 1 games after PS 2 came out. I used to have it but cant find it right now. it is probably in the basement with about 1000 other old software cd's.

bleem is old.. very old. yes it does run some games. EPSXE 1.60 is best for psx and has more compatibility 5x more. PJ64 1.6 with latest update from the guy whats his name made a new update video plugin. very awesome
Gcube "" dolphin emu"" , and of course xbox from XBE never made it. and it only runs 2 to 5 games with tons of errors. however Dreamcast is making it bit by bit. they have 3 kinds of emu's
