Weird Torrent

Anyone ever experienced the following with torrents?

I was downloading a movie last night, and previewed it at a few intervals (5%/15%/40% etc) to check that it was the right movie (which it was) and all was fine. So I let it finish downloading overnight, and now when I play it back it's a completely different movie! All of the content I previewed early on in the DL is absent! I know it was the right movie (the movie it said it was) because I'd seen it before, but now it's like it's been replaced! It's still in the same folder/location and under the same name, is 1.6GB in size but it's not what I was downloading!

3 files in total, one vid and 2x jpegs - all pretty normal in my experience. It's weird as hell lol. The movie I was downloading was DEFINITELY the right one because like I said I previewed it a few times during the download! And now it's some vid in some foreign language!

maybe your torrent program might have done some post-processing like decompressing some file that could have triggered an overwrite?

are you sure it was a proper format? video embedded in exe? dunno... weird.

If it was .mkv or .mp4 it is possible to have dual-audio, but then again it would play same track for previews as well. Avi format should be phased out, some groups finally started to release even regular 640x? TV encodes as mp4, while some still insist on releasing movies as 2CD rips, in 2 files of 700 mb, or even 3CD sometimes. This is very old standard and it should be abandoned right after DVDR-5 became cheaper than ~6.4 CDs, that is 5+ yrs ago.

If possible use private trackers or usenet+nzb index site like http://nzbmatrix.com/. That way you get only verified stuff, without any surprises.

First they had DDoS...
Demonoid Faces Prolonged Downtime After DDoS Attack
July 27, 2012
A severe DDoS attack has brought down one of the most famous BitTorrent trackers. Demonoid has been inaccessible to its millions of users for more than a day and is expected to remain offline for quite some time. The tech admin of the troubled BitTorrent tracker told TorrentFreak that the issues at hand are not easy to fix, and suggests that aside from the DDoS there might have been an attack from another angle.

...and now this crap:
Demonoid Busted As A Gift To The United States Government
August 6, 2012
The nightmare week for Demonoid has just reached a huge crescendo, with news coming out of Ukraine that following a massive DDoS attack the site has now been busted by local authorities. Those looking for a U.S. connection to the raid won’t be disappointed – a source in the country’s Interior Ministry says that the action was scheduled to coincide with Deputy Prime Minister Valery Khoroshkovsky’s trip to the United States.

Demonoid Operators Face Criminal Investigation in Mexico
[ criminal investigation & Mexico together in the same sentence? must be some error! ]
August 7, 2012
Following the news yesterday that Demonoid had been shut down by Ukrainian police, today brings further woes for the site. According to a source at the site’s former webhost, the owners of Demonoid are now the subject of a criminal investigation and prosecution in Mexico after one of the site’s admins was arrested there last year.
