TaskHost - Windows 7

Is there a setting/service that controls this so that it doesn't start?

This shouldn't disturb anything normally, there are some issues with it, perhaps this is relevant:

Also it may be a good idea to run AntiVirus scan, or send the file to https://www.virustotal.com/.

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/eek/ Emsisoft Emergency Kit is very good, got many awards so far. You only need to unzip it and run normal scanner, other apps are extra, HiJackFree is very good. There is no install, so you can run this on top of normal scanner or as portable AV scanner.

Thankyou for your reply dyn.

But, what I was looking for, was a 'process' in Services I could turn off/change to 'manual' so
that it wouldn't start at Startup. I'll keep looking.

taskhost.exe is not something you want to disable. Are you encountering an issue with it using more CPU and memory than you expect?

I am using Windows 7 Pro x86 and have 2 taskhost.exe processes. One is using 2MB RAM and the other 9MB RAM. Occasionally, one will use 1-2% CPU.
