Even though it did take a long time, at least for me over 4 hours, it seemed like it went too fast. I always thought there would be more players left and there wasn't. Even tho I made third place, I only played well in one game. With an elimination bracket like this, different players and maps and weapon choices can totally change the end results. We should definately do this again sometime because every time the results can be totally different! So if anyone played in this and didn't do well, next time you could end up the winner!

i'll add that i was a negative nancy and didn't think it would even happen. props to everyone who followed through on showing up. it's hard to get a group of people together who all have lives and who live on opposite ends of the world.

and props to those running it for getting settings everyone could compromise on.

Copy/extract demos to {quake3}/baseq3/demos/ directory and use Demos menu in-game to play them, or load them manually from game console with /demo vg20101023-01, etc...

You can use timescale binds for fast forward and slow-motion:
Code: Select all
bind INS "timescale 1"
bind DEL "timescale 0.2"
bind PGUP "timescale 25"
bind HOME "timescale 5"

(timescale 1 = normal speed)

Timelimit was 10 min, so you may want to enable timer with: /cg_drawtimer 1

If you get 'disconnected' icon when playing back demos, you may want to install special cgame pk3, which removes this warning.

congrats to all. sorry if i was bitchy as i was hungover and hadnt slept (still havent slept) :) i really hope this can become a regular thing as ive been losing interest in this game alot past few weeks. the 10 minute match time must go though.. a 4 hour long tourney is simply way too long.

I think 10 min is better than fixed fraglimit, because you never know how long it will take to reach it, at same time 5 min is not enough to test endurance.

This was fun Trip is right. The double elimination bracket was a good idea. Takes longer but gives you better chances and see's who the most skilled players are. You have to loose 2 times before you are eliminated. (Mine and Infinity's idea :) )

First congratulate the excellent work of the organizers apo infi dyn.
To thank all participants and some regrettable absences. Surely would have been even more interesting.
Congratulate Shuriken, Genz and Tripredacus, just winners.
It was my first tournament and hopefully not the last, I wish more members get involved in next tournaments. I hope not to be so nervous at the next tournament.

I think that Gumby was the only one who was eliminated after losing 3 games. ?

Yes, it's different style of gameplay. 1vs1 and lots of railing and offhand hook is very different from no hook and using all other weapons. Settings were basically copy of FFA with BFG reduced to 1 projectile only. Weapon power was 1.2, which is what FFA was using most of the time.

You need to ask top players directly i think, about model and such.
