mods/demos/masterserver not working

ive been having a lot of problems lately with quake 3.. any advice would be appreciated.

1. no response from master server in at least a month.
usually this problem resolves itself after awhile but it hasnt stopped in a long time. can connect to everything fine using ip.

2. demos not showing up.
theyre all in the demo folder in baseq3 and can be played with /demo. they dont, however, show up in the list.

3. this one is a mystery to me.
ive been playing a lot of pql (basically quake lives cpma) and wanted to try cpma servers. got the mod, but when i try and look for games it kicks me back to main menu. same thing happens with RA3. mods are in quake 3 folder along with quake3.exe, as far as i know thats where theyre supposed to be. deFrag works normally though?

the only thing i can think of is to copy my .cfg's and reinstall and organize everything. any ideass???

looks like it's down and safe to assume it will probably stay down. apparently you can try to use either a different browser or an alternate master server, but after googling for a whole two minutes i gave up figuring all that out. you can still connect to vogon stuff with q3.vogon.vg, uk.vogon.vg, ctf.vogon.vg.

do you see any? normally they'd be saved in each server's directory (vogon-t1/demos/, vogon-t2/demos/, etc).

thanks for the reply.

ya i googled it as well, ill just have to write all the ips down in notepad or something. to lazy to follow the fixes. whats strange is that some people say master server works fine for them.

do you see any?

no i dont. i did not to long ago but after adding some mods they vanished. normally to see them in the list on the main menu id have to move them from demos in vogon-t1 to baseq3 demo folder.

i think the problem is the mod not loading cuz theres no error in console, just hangs for a second then quits back to main screen. with cpma i try and connect directly to a server and it starts downloading all the mod files again. ra3 just refuses to connect. lol.

pretty much gonna give up till i have the patience to trial and error my way around this crap.

Follow the steps below to see servers once again in your game browser:

Windows XP: Click Start -> Run

Windows Vista / 7: Click Start -> In the "Search" bar type Run and press enter.

1. In the Run dialog box type: notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

2. Press OK.

3. At the bottom of the hosts file add the following line:

209.212.157.150 master.quake3arena.com

3. Save the file and close it.

Now you should see quake3 servers in your browser!

no love for the macs?
i have not seen the master list for a month either.
don't really matter as i don't hit servers other than VGN

this sort of works. i can see a few servers for each mode
