I've had to state the same thing in CTF. Don't accuse, but take a demo and prove it so we can drop the ban hammer! :smilina:

I think someone stated earlier, it's easier to accuse someone of cheating than it is to improve! I use to wonder how certain players could pull of shots, now i know that it took a lot of playing hours!

AP I am kinda lost by your statement. I was stating how players will accuse others of cheating ie changing their name to reflect to show who they are calling a cheat. Ex player1=wall hack

My post was stating how it's easier to accuse than to improve.

Volan just admitted to using/testing a wall hack. WTF! I guess i just have to laugh knowing that i play legit while others have to resort to cheats. Makes me wonder about the whole friggin Extrem clan! GENZ & now Volan.

I knew you were Volan that's why i demo.

But what I really want to say is no one should accuse someone of cheating in open chat all it does is piss everyone off and everyone leaves the game. They should come here and send an admin a private mseeage.

Final thoughts are anyone who accuses any one of cheating in open chat should be banned for a little while and if it happens again ban them for life.

If people don't like it play on a server with P/B enabled

Just my thoughts again.......
Mike AKA Apoc

Thanks for the post Mike,

I know who it is of course, but i wont mention his name here.

Some games he comes in and plays, most games hes bitching at me about the same things. He is a guy who is around my age (40)
yet he acts like a child. He has always thought i cheated and said he always will. He doesnt understand the concept on how a cfg works or
what it does. He honestly thinks that changing your mouse sensitivity and mouse accel is cheating. I told him you can change mouse speed
in player set up in the game and he still thinks thats comparable to botting. Then he stated you cant change FOV in player set up so that
is out of paramaters of what the game intended so that is also cheating. After he stated that i knew he just wanted to argue to which im done with it.

He and many others i have offered help too. He is one that would rather say the only reason he loses is because the others cheat. He doesnt want to admit
he can be beat fair and square. But i have to say, it gets old playing in a server or i should say trying to play when someone constantly runs their mouth about
something they have no clue about. So anyway i appreciate you backing me up here Mike, and by now 99% of the people here know im legit. Its ashame that the 1% can just speak louder at times. I have also told the 1% that their right and privelege is to take a demo and submit it to the admins. To that their response is "you are Dyn's buddy" to which i reply, who do you think banned me in the first place???? So if they choose to not take a demo, my feeling more than anything is that they are just sore losers.

That's crazy. I play with my FOV on 125, so when I reinstalled and forgot to load my config, the default FOV 90 was WAY too close for me; it felt like I was in perpetual zoom.

On non-space maps with a big base, like Q3CTF1, I'll sometimes set my FOV as high as 180. It's a stretch, but it's amazing how many pinpoint shots you can get when you KNOW they're in your crosshairs.

I have that CD (Showing my age) it does not have cherry pie on it has heaven and some of their other hits, His avatar is the cover from Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinkin Rich. their first album. the album with Crerry was called cherry pie and only had one good song Uncle Toms Cabin. Ended Warrants career that album did.

Well I was just curious if it was actually a Warrant album cover. Who doesn't like smiles on your face that are ten miles wide?

WARNITE...one word...AMAZING
I have been on the server alot when he(war) has been accused of using a cheat... I told this guy NO WAY! He says war always uses a different name...b/c he thinks another regular is war, and its not...lol And the accuser is a regular on FFA. And then this guy PM me on the server, saying War isnt legit, not to be trusted, and that I shouldnt be taken in by his BS. I told him he IS legit, hes been checked out, make a demo and send it to dyn or skid if you think something is up, then I tell him everything is cool...then he leaves, but he always comes back to play, and sometims sets in spec on war. I seen the conversations where war has offered to help, even the ones accusing him of cheating, they refuse. Now I think war has a heart of gold for being accused and then offering to help improve the whiney babies( he offered to help me )and Im a BIG whiney baby.
My hats off to war ....kuddos baby !!

To people of some decent skill and experience, its obvious a good player is just that: a good player!

Enviormental settings are the NUMBER ONE WAY TO GET GOOD IN THIS GAME. PERIOD. Skill (for the most part, dont kill me here folks!) is a subjective term. It's nothing more than a glorified way to say you have done something for so long that you have figured out tricks and ways of doing it more effectively. No matter how good you are (or can become in the future) you will never break out of bottom 50 percentile when playing against "top players" if you are still using the default fov, not forcing models, jacking up your video settings, using a "normal" mouse pad or using lowered mouse sensitivit settings. And thats just the top few things you can do to improve your game DRASTICALLY. Dont get me started on SOUND. Playing without a decent sound card and GOOD set of headphones (no $10 in the ear buds) for me is like playing blinded. SOUND accounts for a quarter of my skill. I can hear people walking and changing weapons a mile away and becuase q3 engine works well with surround-sound cards, I can pin-point locations in teh NEXT ROOM of the map if need be, especially when theres fewer people in the server. This can appear to seem that I am tracking players thru walls....and I am, but Im using their own SOUNDS against them. But for those that simple dont know or understand, it would look like I am following a player behind a wall using wall hack.

On a dare, someone said I couldn't quickly learn to juggle when I was a kid. So I picked up 2 balls (oh God dont start lol) and started. At first it was a disaster of course. Trying to juggle 2 tennis balls with one hand is NOT as easy as you would think. After 5-10 minutes I realized the trick was to be able to toss the balls COMPLETELY straight, so that they would FALL straight. This way I wouldnt have to move my hand around trying to catch the falling ball while the second was still goin up in the air. After 20-30 minutes I was able to to toss the ball up up perfectly straight about 2 feet in the air and it would land in my palm perfectly in the same spot it was before it left. 30-45 minutes later, I was able to do this fast enough to juggle 2 balls, one hand. The next day I had gotten SO USE to the physics of the ball, that I could now PERFECTLY angle them from one hand to other WITHOUT EVER LOOKING at the balls or my hand. 3-4 balls later (and 1 week of practice) and I was doing full juggling tricks including tossing and catching BLIND behind my back, etc.

Im not skilled juggling folks, its just another example where if you WANT TO, you can quite literally do ANYTHING and DO IT WELL. I have no real aiming skill or nothing like that, thats why i hardly ever use aim weapons like rail and shot gun. M y skill is in simple repetative training as I play and my enviormental settings. Thats it. Period.

Re: WARNITE

Postby warnite » Tue Sep 30, 2008 22:39 UTC

Heheh, Gumby, You Da Man..

That Poem you wrote summed it up perfectly.

I like many others have been playing quake for many years. Some people that i have talked to that think i cheat have made comments like "Im at the top of my game, i cant improve anymore, This is the best i can ever be"

Over the years i have felt the same way but for me it was Plateaus i hit. For each plateau i hit, i sought ways to improve at least 1 aspect of my game so that i could break free of that level of skill i had achieved. Right before i started playing on Vogon, i had hit a plateau. I was extremely frustrated as i was running out of ideas for improvement. A friend that i met thru work, i found out played Quake (diff mods than i do) so i invited him to play some freeze. Holy shit was he good. This was my opportunity to grow my game. He came to my house showed me more effective ways to strafe jump, and helped me set up a cfg slightly diff than what i had been using. It took me a few weeks of my game suffering and shooting lower scores but then i started to get used to the new set up and my game took off. So you have to be willing to learn in order to improve. Kinda funny how Tiger Woods still has a coach huh.

Also as Gumby i cant state enough how important sound is. I spent $150.00 on a 5.1 surround card and matching headphones.

This same individual that accused me of cheating asked how it is that he can be behind me and i can turn and shoot and kill him where he stands. Simply put, SOUND. Nothing fancy just sound. Team that with a mouse_accel and a bumped up sens, takes less than 1 inch of mouse movement to spin 180 degrees.

So, if i invite someone over to show me on my keyboard how to strafe better, play hours of trick maps to hone my strafing skills, spend $150.00 on just sound alone, start fresh with a new cfg and have my game suffer for it while i learn it its pretty ballsy for you to accuse me of being a cheat if you arent will to at least take some advice to try and improve your own game.

To this day the friend that helped me improve my game, i have beaten him only ONCE. And my friends he doesnt cheat and i have never accused him of cheating. Like Gumby says........Hes just that good..............
