Quake III 2017 - figured I'd just post something... just fired-up Q3 and the first thing that popped into my mind "I wonder if VogonHQ still is around?"... and it is! Anyone remember that old statistics site TheCLQ? I miss that. Have to relearn key bindings, and I remember I had a "system" of switching to grapple as-if it were off-hand (using binds for mwheelup & mwheeldown). Anyhow, I hope to see some familiar peeps on here again.

Finally got to play against someone aside from Ms Gauntlet.. rails against Ghost {War} - great rails... but couldn't re-enter. Vogon disappeared from the list.. going to retry and load it. Hope to see more peeps on there for rail fights. :dead2:

Flipmonger - nice rails, btw. Been a while since I rebound my mouse... isn't it like [/bind mwheeldown "weapon 0"] (without brackets)?

Yeah, and it has no server support, not even those pathetic rented ones where you can be happy if they allow you to change maps. :)

I even emailed John Carmack and John Romero about this recent trend, suggesting they influence developers today. Perhaps they say something and some will listen, since they still have the influence. Sure, not all games are like that, for instance, some offer dedicated servers + mods, however, they impose official servers on top of that, and getting into unofficial ones requires more steps, which can be confusing to new players. It is a bit better, but not very fair to all the developers, ironically, the same type of developers which created many of those games long ago.
