This is from April, old news. Despite this, virtualization is very good to test unknown software, not only potential malware, but also old or buggy apps.

Absolutely. I had fun with Thinstall, and will enjoy VMware's version of it. I was just pointing out that our Mackies need to watch out for the big-bad Wind0ze cooties.

ThinApp can be handy for portable apps, for example to carry them on USB key. I did it with GTalk, it ran fast, without affecting host system. There is also option inside VMWare and VirtualBox to run apps in windows, inside host system.

About that security alert, it is unlikely people who are working with virtualization will actually download and virtualize malware. It is possible, yes, but chances are very slim, plus software is already patched now.

But it is good to know. :)
