That's probably one of the most influential black metal albums ever. Some say Norwegian Black Metal, but i see this as a new incarnation of Black Metal, and it is manifesting in different forms all the time.
Check out this, new release from 2013, a bit different from the New Wave of Black Metal (90's BM/Norwegian BM), it's called NWOBHM (New Wave of Black Heavy Metal), a new wave of that older Blackened Heavy Metal.
Btw, if you check Bathory, especially their last albums, that could also be called new wave of Black/Heavy not just Black, totally pagan while this is a bit more punk/metal. That's a big difference, they can coexist but i see true Black Metal needs daemonic/pagan influence or else it has no proper inspiration, which is crucial to keep it going. Commercialization or any other crap is not important when it comes to this, there must be daemonic element present or it is not true BM anymore. Not sure many get this... That artist from Tasmania (Striborg) surely understands it. Well, i like both, but as i said more daemonic, the better.
